Distinctive Unit Insignia
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 5/32 inches (2.94 cm) consisting of a shield blazoned: Per chevron Or and Vert, in base the Scales of Justice of the first; on a canton Gules a "houn' dawg" statant of the third. Attached below and on the sides of the shield a Gold scroll inscribed "STRENGTH AND JUSTICE" in Red letters.
Green and yellow are the colors of the Military Police. The Scales of Justice are symbolic of the function of the organization. The "houn' dawg" on the canton shows the Battalion's descent from the 203d Coast Artillery Regiment.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 24 October 1952.
